Welcome to My Blog!

Here I will write letters to my daughter, Fufu. Hopefully, she will read them when she's older and look back on them fondly.

Thanks for the Laugh!

We were watching Sesame Street, and you tried very hard to take elmo out of the screen. You were grabbing at the screen and trying to take him out.

Elmo, your toy, is not the same one on the screen ;)

Do do dat!

Last night, I tried to towel dry your hair after your evening bath. You ran away saying "do do dat!"

Translation: Don't do that!

Not-So-Subliminal-Messaging

Today while we were eating lunch, you looked at me and said "Kefayah? Kefayah?" Roughly translated to: "Isn't that enough?"

Gee, thanks kid.

Very Weird!

You've gotten into the habit of licking my face. It's disgusting, please stop. You're not a dog!

Your First Three Word Sentence!

Today, we were sitting at the kitchen table eating supper. Now, we've been trying to get you used to the idea of having a baby brother, so we've been telling you that mama has a baby inside her tummy.

So today, you pointed at your dad's belly and said "baba baby gowa (inside)"

I wonder if daddy is pregnant, and just hasn't told me yet?

Your Smile

Your smile is the sweetest thing in the world. When you smile, you instantly cheer me up, and make me smile too.

Thank you for being my beautiful baby girl.

You're Too Smart For Your Own Good

I bought you non-spill sippy cups specifically so that I don't get milk spilled on the floor. The completely carpeted floor.

So what do you do? You drink the milk, store it in your mouth, then spit it out on the carpet.

*Sigh.

I'm Sorry

Sometimes I am impatient with you, or fall short on my responsibilities. I am sorry for that. I love you very much, and I am trying my best. Hopefully your memories of me will only be good ones.

Every day

Every day you grow more and more and become more and more of your own individual. Every day, you shock me with how much you've learned and how much you've changed. It's like watching a miracle unfold; an independent child is being moulded from a once helpless and completely dependent baby.

I took a nap today...

... In your toddler-proof and gated bedroom while you played. I woke up to you talking to me and handing me a small ball. I was very confused and disoriented, and thought to myself that there are no small balls in your bedroom...

As I opened my eyes, I realized that you had taken off your diaper, and were handing me your little poop pellets. In fact, there were six or seven more pellets on the bed next me.

I know I try to teach you to share sweetie, but not all things are meant to be shared.

Last night at dinner time...

... I asked you "Fufu, would you like to sit in your highchair?"

You said "Okay!"

Then ran in the opposite direction screaming "Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!"

I wish I knew why you do the hilarious things that you do.

I will always remember...

One night, when you were 22 months old, you woke up wanting a drink of water. I got you the water, but I was so tired and practically sleep-walking, so I ended up falling asleep in your bedroom. The next morning, you woke up and played quietly with your toys while I was sleeping in your bed. After a while, you came up to me, pulled the covers off and told me "Oumee! Oumee! Mum-mum! Mum-mum!"

Translation: "Get up! Get up! Food! Food!"

My, how you've grown sweetie.

The Fly on the Baby Doll

Today, you saw a fly sitting on your baby doll. You looked at it and said:

"Awwwwww.... baby! Oh no! Oh no! Oh God!"

Dear Fufu,

When you grow older, and have me over for dinner, I will spill my drink all over the table and splash it every. I will also put my meal (rice, veggies, bread, chicken, whatever is on hand) in the cup that holds my drink, thus ruining both the food and the drink and making clean up that much more fun.

Then I will say "Imagine a whole year of this, every day, at least three times a day."

Dear Fufu,

You have the ability to cheer me up and brighten my day.
One smile from you makes all my troubles go away.

You blow me a kiss and everything else seems so small and insignificant and petty.
You are my everything, my sweet little pretty.

I never would have imagined that one person could affect me so much.
